Henry George Page (b. 1993) is a British musician who divides his time between London, Manchester and the North-West of the UK.

He studied Composition under Richard Whalley and Voice with Andrew Heggie at the University of Manchester, before completing a Masters in Composition with Emily Howard and Laura Bowler at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he was a 2021 Gold Medal winner and the  recipient of the Patricia Cunliffe Composition Prize in 2020.

 

He has written music for larger and chamber ensembles, choirs and solo instruments: collaborations and workshops include projects with the BBC Singers, House of Bedlam and commissions for the Bromley Music Trust, Devon Philharmonic Orchestra, House of Bedlam, Finzi Friends Trust, Leeds International Lieder Festival, Ludlow English Song, Mountview Academy, Nottingham Youth Orchestra, the GRAMMY-nominated baritone Dan Kempson and pianist Philip Sharp. Henry won the Ludlow Young Composer’s Competition in 2017, the Allegri Singers’ Carol Competition in 2018 and the Patron's Prize for the Leamington Sinfonia inaugural composition competition in 2022. Recent works include Vespula Cartouche, an orchestral work for Leamington Sinfonia and a solo piano work for Edward Campbell-Rowntree.

 

As a performer, Henry maintains a diverse portfolio in singing, accompaniment, direction and continuo. He originated principal roles at the Grimeborn and Tête-à-Tête opera festivals, and appeared as Adonis in Blow’s Venus and Adonis (Ad Parnassum), Colonel Calverly in Patience, Counsel in Trial by Jury (NGSOC) for the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, as well as participating in world premieres of works by composers including Paul Mealor, Roxanna Panufnik and Sir James MacMillan. A keen Bach exponent, he has appeared as Jesus in St John Passion with Tiffin Boys’ Choir; Trinity Laban Choir; Nottingham Bach Choir and Furness Bach Choir working with Ralph Allwood MBE and Simon Toyne.

 

As a conductor and director, he directed the SET Collective, a New Music ensemble at the RNCM and previously served as Director of Music to St Matthew at the Elephant on London’s Southbank. Currently, he assists directing Opera Viva Merseyside. He has worked as a peripatetic singing teacher and accompanist at The Royal Ballet School’s White Lodge in Richmond and and regularly accompanies for various singers; with Rebecca Anderson, he won the RNCM Emmanuel Prize in 2020.

Henry currently maintains a role as a Bass Scholar St Olave’s, Hart Street, whilst also a regular member of the acclaimed Manchester ensemble KANTOS and the Italian-based group Ad Parnassum, where he specialises in Franco-Flemish polyphony. He deputises regularly with KCL Chapel Choir and Stile Antico; he has worked on recordings for Signum, Delphian and Chandos Records. He studies privately with Hilary Summers.
